Our History We've been providing software to the Upholstery manufacturing industry since the spring of 1998 when we were first asked to help a small but quickly growing business. Our client was recording orders using his "Epsilon" accounting software, but couldn't convert them into the production planning information that he needed without lots of painstaking manual effort. He asked us to help out, and we wrote a reporting tool to generate a Production Planning aid, achieving a pay-back of around 4 months on the development! As time went on, our client set up Windows on his PC's and accepted that he could migrate to using Windows development tools which we duly did. We took advantage of the opportunity to completely rewrite SuiteMaker2 to make the new system very flexible and capable. We made the best use of this time to set up SuiteMaker systematically so that it would be easy to extend for the future. We then set up guided order entry (so you could only enter things that you were actually able to make) and so that the right price would be used. Once we had the order entry set up, we made all the existing ranges, items, fabrics and colours consistent, so, for example, "Champagne" had only one spelling and one abbreviation throughout the whole system. Finally, we released the code for final testing and use, getting a very happy customer out of the process. From that point in Spring 2000 we have extended the system massively, extending it to produce additional documentation such as invoices or the ability to find which ranges can be covered in which fabric. The system continues to grow to satisfy customer demand with new features being added regularly, such as the inclusion of the ability to communicate with E-Commerce systems. We have just completed Version 3 of SuiteMaker, and have taken the time to ensure that SuiteMaker will be able to expand without unnecessary limitation for the forseeable future and with the ability to handle throughput of at least several thousand suites per week.
